Registration for Chemistry Majors - Winter Term 2005
|
Special Notes 1. Registration for CH 362 requires an override. Students taking CH 361 have top priority and will receive overrides. Other students should put their name on the waiting list in the main office (GILB 153). Likely there will be openings only in the WF section. See Dr. Pastorek for details. 2. It is likely that CH 463 Spring term will be full. Students in some options who wish to finish their WIC course this year should consider taking CH 462 this Winter term as their WIC course along with CH 422 as a background lecture course. 3. All Chem majors have mailboxes in GILB 156. Some of you have not picked up your mail. |

2. PIN numbers
Your Registration PIN (personal identification number) for Winter term was
obtained from your adviser last Spring or during the summer for new students and is the
same one you used for Fall registration. You should not need your PIN to
register. You should also have a General Access PIN (GAP) that you only
know. Student athletes and students who switched to chemistry from another
college this term may need a new PIN.
3. Graduating Seniors
Audits are done for seniors graduating this Fall term should verify with their
adviser or Renee in the office that everything is in order. Students planning to graduate
W05 or S05 or summer 05 should
submit an Application for Bachelor's degree with the registrar to begin
the audit process
(one audit per term). Forms are available at the
registrars office. On the form, you must declare the degree (B.S. or B.A.),
the major (chemistry), and your
option(s) if your degree is a B.S.. You can look at your audit on the Web (Student
Online Services WEB page).
4. Options
All B.S. students must
declare an option independent of the
graduation audit because correct advising (e.g., the courses you take) depends
on the chosen option.
5. Declared Electives
For some options, the student must have elective courses approved.
For the advanced chemistry and advanced biochemistry options of
the B.S degree or the B.A. degree, students are required to have
their career-supportive electives approved by their adviser this term,
Fall
quarter of the junior year. For the business option
you must specify which business courses will be used for upper division
electives. For the chemical education option, an adviser
in science and math education must approve the courses in the secondary
endorsement area.
6. Research and Internships
To register for undergraduate research (CH 401) & internships (CH 410),
students must fill the
blanket number form
available in the chemistry office.
7. Other
At the new chemistry advising WEB site, you will find
a great deal of information including registration schedules,
B.S. and B.A. curricula in four forms (requirements by area, check lists, timetables
by term, and by year), a list of prerequisites and terms that courses are taught, and a link to course
equivalents from other institutions.
8. Courses
MTH 253 is a required course for the advanced chemistry and
advanced biochemistry options and this course is offered Winter term and Spring term
2005. MTH 306 is an acceptable substitute and is offered Fall, Winter and
Spring terms.
BI 315 or BB 494 is a required course for the forensic science option.
BI 315 will not be taught 2004-05 so students who need one of these courses
should take BB 494 Winter term 2005 . Because PHL 444 is not scheduled to be taught
the 04-05 academic year,
students with the Premed option should review the
list of
substitute courses. There may also be some
changes in the chemical education option - check this site for updates.
