General Information
A
general chemistry sequence for students majoring in most sciences, pharmacy,
and chemical, biological, and environmental engineering. CH 223 is a Bacc.
Core Course in the Physical Science (with lab) category.
Prerequisites
One
year of high school chemistry and acceptable aptitude test scores.
Successful completion of CH 121 is accepted in lieu of high school chemistry
as a prerequisite for this sequence.
CH 221, CH 222, CH 223 must be taken in order.

Textbook
and Other Supplies:
The
textbook ($) (required) is Chemistry, A Molecular Approach, by Tro,
2/ed, Prentice Hall.

The
solutions manual for the textbook ($) (optional) is available for

(This is the same text as used in CH 221 and CH 222).
The

(This is the same subscription used in CH 221). If you
purchased this for CH 221 and/or CH 222 you will use the same account without paying
again.
The
online chemistry laboratory package ($) (required) is www.onlinechemlabs.com
The
on-campus laboratory manual will be issued during your first visit to the
general chemistry laboratory (Week 2 of the term). The first lab may
be issued during the Week 1 recitation periods.
Laboratory
goggles, a lab towel, and a lab coat (if you do not have these from CH 221
and/or CH 222)
will be issued during your first visit to the general chemistry laboratory
(Week 2 of the term).
A
laboratory notebook is not used in CH 223.
Any
scientific calculator ($) (required) will be used broadly in CH 222.
Various
packages consisting of the textbook, solutions manual, and Mastering
Chemistry are available at the OSU Bookstore.
