Undergraduate students and Graduate students in the Chemistry Department at Oregon State University hosted Newport Elementary School students as "Chemists for a Day."  They made the polymer "slime" and investigated its properties.   They also got some first hand experience using the scientific method to figure out why some chemicals get hot, change color and give off gases as they react.
