Chem Education Elective (see list)

a The analytical chemistry of combination of CH 421 (F), CH 422 (W), and CH 461 (F) is recommended for the strongest background in analytical chemistry and should be taken the third year. With this option, only one inorganic chemistry course is required (CH 411 (F) ) so that this options adds only 2 credit hours to the total.

The order of courses is suggested. For the track-two core courses (CH, MTH, PH), the order is very fairly critical because of prerequisites and the fact that most CH courses are taught only one term per year.  The options courses (SED, etc.) can be taken at different times than indicated, but one must be concerned with the prerequisites and the fact that many of these courses are taught only one term per year.

Bacc core courses or secondary endorsement electives courses are are not shown.

Students interested in this option should have an additional advisor in the department of Science and Mathematics education and obtain approval for the secondary endorsement elective courses (15 cr) from this advisor.

Courses in second endorsement area (15 cr) to be from list approved by the department of science and math education and must be different from those required in the chemistry core. Examples: Biology: BI 211-213 plus one upper division BIO course; Mathematics: MTH 211-213, ST 351 or MTH 391; Integrated Science: BI 211,BI 212, GEO 201-202; Multimedia and Information Sciences: CS 101, CS 395, 396, CS 391 (no longer offered but if this was available when you started at OSU, these courses are accepted by for your Chemistry degree requirements).

For the SMED OSU program, PH 211-213 is required for primary endorsement in Physics.
MSED courses in the above table for option courses are considered at the "Preprofessional" level for teaching science.
The one year program in MSED is really a Licensure Program - to finish the MS-Ed (previously MAT), 18 additional credits are needed during a second year plus an oral exam. These credits can be obtained while teaching HS.
